Day 24 – Two by Two

image

So I originally wanted to take a photo of toys lined up two by two. But unfortunately two of the same toys could not be found in our house. Anyway I went to work at the local community coffee shop. Since we weren’t that busy I started playing around with the coffee pods. I then saw the perfect photo opportunity. The coffee pods had been lined up two by two ready to jump into the coffee machine and create magic in the form of freshly brewed coffee. Just shows that photos can come from anywhere and at any time.

Day 1 – Good Morning 2015

So the year had just begun and the champagne bottles were open to celebrate the upcoming year and the future ahead. The photo prompt for today was Good Morning 2015. I decided to focus more on the morning part of the prompt and link it to what we usually have in the morning.

To take this photo I made my dad a cup of coffee (he very much enjoyed that..). And as I was stirring in the coffee I took this photo. I used my smartphone Nexus 4 camera… I know that many people say that photos taken by smartphones don’t have the quality that a standard camera has but I disagree. I took only half the cup to focus more on the swirling of the coffee instead of the cup itself.

Editing this photo was easy, I used the Autodesk Pixlr app, the mobile version of the Pixlr online editing software. I would recommend this to anyone as the app is the perfect way to create awesome photos without the need to download specialist software. The app is also free so it couldn’t really be better. This app has so many effects that I can add to my photos.

So to edit this I changed the brightness and contrast to make the background hardly visible. Our kitchen worktop is not the best background. I then made it black and white to bring out the emphasis on the coffee mug itself.

Happy New Year!!
